Origin

I was born in Ethiopia and moved to Italy when I was seven.

Growing up between two places teaches you to notice things that people inside either one take for granted. One of the things I noticed early was this: what leaves a country and what returns to it are rarely the same thing.

Ethiopia produces some of the most distinctive coffee in the world. It's also a country where most of the value attached to that coffee gets built somewhere else — by someone else.

I didn't start Bunna Origin to write about that problem. I started it to work on it, in a small and concrete way, through something I could actually learn and do.

Coffee felt like the right place. Not just because it's the crop most associated with Ethiopia, but because it's something I could approach with honesty — studying it properly, building real knowledge, not just repeating what the industry already says.

This project is still in its early stages. It's being built step by step, without shortcuts.

That's intentional.
