In October 2026, I'll return to evaluate the new harvest and select Bunna Origin's first coffee lot.
This page will document the path behind that decision: the work before departure, the evaluation at origin and the choices that will shape the first release.
Before the Journey
The selection does not begin in October. It begins by tasting, comparing and learning.
Twelve reference lots have already been evaluated to define a sensory direction and identify the questions to take to origin.
These coffees are not candidates for the final purchase. They are a working reference: a way to understand which qualities should be preserved, which aspects need greater clarity and what must still be tested in the new harvest.
At Origin
In Ethiopia, the reference profiles will be tested against the reality of the new harvest.
The work will move beyond the cup: visiting producers and partners, understanding processing and drying, and comparing quality, consistency and traceability in context.
The first lot will be selected not only for how it tastes, but for how clearly it connects cup, place and people.

August 2026 — Building the Reference Twelve reference lots have been tasted and compared. Five processing profiles are now helping define the direction for the new harvest.
